Letters

Castledamph, Feburary 27 1896

Dear Brother,
I am going to write you
a few lines to let you know I am getting
along. The weather here now is not very
favourable, today, it has been very wet,
and it appears to continue. I am attending
school each day, unless this week, I was not
at it, but I think I will be at it again
Monday I did not get a nought for anything,
but there was a good deal of 2 s before my name,
There was only four failed out of thirty four,
so that was not very many. Willie John passed
alright. John Charles had not up his days (sic),
he had only 96, and he wanted four, so he would
not be examined. I am in the Sixth Book second
stage. I do not know whether I will get going on
to school or not. Eliza would rather that I would
stay at home to feed pigs &c, but I would rather
go on to school. Did you take the spelling book
with you I was looking for it and could not get it
as Miss Dunne wants me to learn it. We are done
ploughing today, with potato land and all, and
every body is nearly done too. I think I will
soon close up my short bit of a letter, and I will
take my tea as it is waiting for me. I hope you will
excuse me for this writing as I am in a hurry to get
done with it.

I remain your loving Sister

To J A Smith Mary Smyth

I think Miss [Du--?] has some notion of you yet
