Dear Brother;-
Just a few lines more
as I haven`t time all mail closes at
10`o clock we get to Rimouski by three
0`clock tomorrow morning. We got off at
Quebec for a few seconds they didn`t
want to let us but we went they said
it would only stop a little while and
it was stopped a quarter of an hour.
There was one man went up town and got back
as the ladder was almost down. There
were quite a few got on there but
all french. We passed the Oceanic
this afternoon it is a large boat we
could not get a full view of this
one at Quebec I suppose I won`t have
a change now until I get off
There are lot (sic) of music tonight but
we are writing in the dining room so
we can hear it. There was gentleman (sic)
[singing?] this afternoon and he was very
good.
I asked the chiefsteward for a passenger
list so he has just brought me one now
but they will have other ones by
morning as they have to be corrected
or something he said I notice some
that I have seen but didn`t know
their names. One of those people Revd
McAvey are sitting beside me now writing.
I guess they are priests. This Mr [Cgeorge?]
That Iv`e marked I was talking to him on
deck today he is a married man
left his wife & children in Ottawa
he hasn`t been home for sixteen years
he said he sent his wife last year
but still they were not satisfied until
he would go He is about thirty five.
He has a field glass so he gave it to
us to see the Ship passing.
Just after showing this list to the
preacher so he is very deaf & I couldnt
make him hear so I had to write
where my home was & he wrote his,
Must close now as they
are getting lunch out
Good Bye
Mary.
