| Transcript | TAYLOR & TAUBE, 114 WALL STREET, TELEPHONE NO. 955 JOHN. New York, Dec 16 1902 My dear Alex I took it that no news is good news & that you have fully recovered from your illness - I sincerely trust so - Kate continues to improve but the trained nurse & Doctor are still in attendance & the former will be w(it?)h her until after Christmas & we hardly expect her down stairs then - infact we do not want her to move fearing a relapse. We are having a very severe winter - Cold weather - Snow & gales & as you know the position of our house you will appreciate it. We are however getting plenty of coal & wood [despite?] the scarcity owing to the strike. Hugh was in yesterday, he & his family are well. Jim is at work & well - his family is scattered but I hear are also well - Will was down this week but I missed him he & Gerty are very well Blanche had lunch with Gert yesterday, she said Barron who has been ill with [lumbago?] & congestion of the lungs. He is up on the mend. My kids are all well & have been enjoying the cold weather 7c 12 at our place. I am a fixture - had one attack of quinsy in the spring - first in sixteen years - it is my arch enemy but I am an ar[tis?]t in handling it & got through all right. This so far is only a bulletin. I have to write a line to Jim Corr yet & as I am on the run as usual I must cut you short. I enclose Dft [draft?] for ten pounds which [ready?] cash for ten sovereigns - give them to mother with my love & wish her all the joys the season brings - The amount is small but it is [anticipation?] (small [?] is) of prosperity my company will pay a dividend on Jany [January?] 1st the first in fourteen years (since (1888) I will give you my history before |
