| Transcript | Mr Andrew Lowry Argrey Ballindrate [Ballindrait?] Strabane Ireland Canfield Feby 10th 1890 Dear Uncle Aunt & Cousin I now take the oppertunity [opportunity?] of sending you these few lines to let you know that we are all well at present hoping to hear from you all enjoying the same such a time for sickness i never saw most every person now a days has Lagrippe or getting over it neither Mother or i got it yet nor are we any ways Anxious we had a verry [very?] wet fall & winter up till now rain most every day, But it has frose [froze?] up at last and come Some Snow and we are having our first slaying [sleighing?] now and it is a light coat not over six inches we are Looking for more in a few days Uncle John Lowrie & family are all well at present the Lagrippe [Gripe?] has taught most of them Mr Cranston & family were well the last we heard from them But i see by the papers that two thirds of the inhabitants of tapley-town are in Bed with Lagrippe it is not likely they will Escape do you know anything about it in Ireland, i see by news papers Both Home & foreign a great many dies with the disease the crops here last year were verry [very?] good But prices were Low for all kinds of grain, but Young Stock & Milch Cows are 75 per ct [cent?] better than Last Year fall wheat & grass never looked Better for this time of Year But it is the spring that tells the tale in this Section Mother keeps quite smart she is around all the time But troubled considerable with Rheumatism we had so much wet damp weather For Myself i never felt Better in my life. i was a heavy Smoker & chewer of the weed they call tobacco But i quit them Both on the first of Jan'y 90 [1890?] But i regret [I?] did not do so years ago Mother thinks you might make a trip over and see us and see what a fine country this is and you would Be Sick of old Ireland i will send you 2 or 3 papers with this Letter and i will now come to a close for i have nothing of importance to write hoping soon to hear from you I Remain Your Affectionate Nephew #PAGE 2 P.S. give our love to all Jn [John?] A.
