| Transcript | 20th Feb 1888 Mr. Andrew Lowrie Argrey. Bellindrate [Ballindrait?] Strabane Co. Donegal Ireland Canfield Febry [February?] 20th 1888 Dear Uncle & family I now take the oppportunity of sending you these few lines to let you know that we are all well hoping to hear from you enjoying the same mother keeps quite smart she is able to be around all the time she can use her hand but has no grip in it her appetite is good and feels about as good as Before she got the stroke Uncle John is with us this week he is looking Better than i have seen him for a long time he is Both fat and rugged looking his daughter Jane (Mrs Knox) has been Visiting with us for over a week i took her to the train on Saturday for home she is well and put in a good time while here Cousin Martha Cranston's daughter is stopping with us at present and has been here for some weeks. But i am going to take her home this week we had a letter from them last week they were all well then Aunt Ellen Lowrie is coming to day to stay with mother as long as we want her Cousin John K. Lowrie is getting along first rate with Blacksmithing Uncle John works with him all the time But is here on a visit now we have had a very dry Summer here Last Summer Crops were not so good on account of the drought and a very dry fall which was the means of a great many farmers drilling for #PAGE 2 water there are a great number of flowing wells in our neighbourhood enough to keep plenty of water in the Creeks all the time and it is splendid water for stock But not so good for house use. Mother wants you to write and let her know if Uncle Robert and Uncle James wives are living and how all their families is getting along mother would like if you could tell her her Birth day [Birthday?] she says it is 1815 but does not know the month or the day of the month she thinks you might know or find out she went to Pittsburgh about 18 years ago to see her Brother Alex [Alexander?] when he was living and she seen [Cairns?] Patterson and he gave her all the news of the old country he could at that time and we heard nothing from you till cousin Martha Cranston got word from you we have splendid sleighing here this winter it is not deep or drifting but even i have not done much this winter only getting up wood and cutting it for summer use i will be on the road selling Agricultural machinery all summer health permitting i will have to fetch this to a close with sending my love and best wishes to you all & mother joins in the same.
