Argrey Ballindrait

Ireland.

Dear Uncle,
With pleasure I now take the oppertunity [opportunity?] of sending
you a few lines to let you know that we are well, hoping to hear from you
all enjoying the same, I have wrote a number of letters to you and have
never received of no answer from any of them and I hope if this reaches you
will be kind enough to answer it as mother verry [very?] anxious to know
you [all are?] we have one of the poorest summers this summer in Canada that
has been known in a long time it was so dry that the crops this summer will
not pay for harvesting. The farmers around here are busy thrashing their
grain and it is the poorest yield for a number of years, fall wheat,
averages, between 25 & 30 bushells to 10, acres, or 2(1/2) & 3(1/2) per
acre and spring crops is no better. Mother is still doing a little [at?]
the weaving yet, but cannot do much as she is alone Fanny has been dead
near two years and left two children one boy & a girl Martha is living
about fifty five miles from us and has six children and the last letter
we had from them they were all well Uncle John Lowrie is [busy?] making
cheese this summer he has a cheese factory in [Onedia?] and the last we
heard they were all well Mother was over to see her brother Alex Lowrie in
Pittsburgh 3 years ago and he is not doing verry [very?] well she says he
is given to drink and is not good to the family when in that state Mother
talked to him often when she was there but all to no [ ? ] she wishes you
would write to him mother says he has a nice family if he would only show
them a better example I am at home at present and will be all [?] for work
is very scarce this summer and by the apperance [appearance?] of things at
present they will be nothing doing this winter. I will now fetch my letter
to a close and if you should get this one I will be able to give you all the
particulars in the next one. No more at present.
But remains your affectionate nephew Till Death
