Strabane Ireland Canfield 5-24. 92 [24 May 1892?] Dear Uncle & Family I received yours in due course and we were glad to hear you were all well hoping you & yours may long enjoy that great Blessing. We are all well at present. Mother was verry [very?] poorly for a couple of weeks but she is quite smart again. Crops is looking splendid here this spring, fall wheat & grass never looked better this time of year Orchards all out in Blossom it is a lovely scene, the spring wheat Barley, Oats, & peas, will soon cover the ground, and at present farmers are buisy [busy?] planting potatoes & corn we had any amount of Rain this spring but the weather now is all that could be desired Feed was a little scarce here this spring quite a number of farmers bought Hay but it was not verry [very?] dear it could be bought for $10.00 per ton, it was shipped from Montreal & quebec - they press it there & ship to Hamilton & Toronto - they have Hundreds of tons for sale yet it can be bought there for 4 & 5 dollars per ton but the farmers will need no more they have a No 1 pasture now and the prospects of a big Hay crop this year, I received your papers the Witness is a good paper, I Read all But advertisements I take five Weeklies [weeklys?] so I Have Lots of Reading Mrs Lowrie is in Oneida at present waiting on her daughter Mrs Knox she has been sick and had another daughter and is gaining slowly - John Lowrie Jr's family are all well. Mrs Cranstons family were well #PAGE 2 the last we heard from them they are Living in the city of Hamilton the Third Son has a milk route & supplies part of the city with milk I see by our papers you are on the eve of a general election if it is anything like with us it will make lively times for a while I send you a paper with this letter so you will see our Market Reports. Everything is cheap and no signs of a Rise in price Mother joins in sending her love to you all, she will be 77 years old this month but she does not know the day of month I have nothing of importance to write at present we all join in sending our Love to you All And all Enquiring friends hoping soon to hear from you I Remain Your affectionate Nephew Jno [John?] Walker Canfield P.O.
