Dear Uncle & Family
I now
take pleasure in sending you these
few lines to let you know that we
are all well at present hoping
to hear from you all enjoying
the same Blessing mother keeps
quite smart she is able to be around
all the time she makes her own Bed
every day & sometimes helps to wash
dishes - Uncle John Lowry's family
have all had the LaGrippe [Grippe?] but they
are all well again it has been a terror
in this section of country especially
among the Aged. A great many deaths
and a large number verry [very?] sick with it
at present people do not like to be
slighted but I hope if it slights me
I will not be offended for I have not
got the desease [disease?] as yet I have
sat up all night with several
that had it verry [very?] Bad in fact I
have been in and out among it for
a month and they say it is catching
we have not heard from Mr & Mrs
Cranston lately, they are living in
the city of Hamilton, the son has
Rented the farm, the last word we
had they were all well I Received
some papers from you which Accept my
thanks & I will send you some with
this Letter I have nothing of any
Importance to write we have a pretty
cold winter with any Amount of Snow
and splendid sleighing I will give
you more news in my next
I Remain
Your Affectionate Nephew
Jno [John?] Walker
