Dear Sister
I have waited very
long for a letter from you but
I see I shall have to write first
and tell you I am well but for the
toothache had laid me up pretty
nearly all last week I got your
Xmas present but sent you none
I had also a letter from home & a
card & a paper and Sunday
last I answered the letter
well I must tell you I purchased
me a plush cloak at 30 dollars
last week I like it very much
and I tell you it is handsome
if I had only a silk dress I
bought me a pair of shoes at
5 dollars no 6 fit like a stocking
I was thinking some of coming down
in the month of March and bringing
a young friend of mine an Irish
girl with me I have not fully
decided how did you like the
letter I sent you to send to
Willie and have you had an
answer yet and did you have
a letter from home how is all the
folks down there you need not
send those rubbers now for I suppose
they are all worn out anyhow
did you ever hear if Uncle Bole
recognized us that evening
I get along very nicely with my
music I hope you are well and
having lots of slayriding
[sleigh-riding?] well
I dont expect any I suppose
of course you hear from Will and
go up to see Mrs M Gaw as often
as usual Miss Shaw has caught
a bear she said she was tired
of the last one hugging her
and this one goes into the
fence corner to make water
when they are out together and
lets her walk ahead a little
ways we had a real pleasant
time at Xmas all the oysters
we wanted and oranges peanuts
and candy at Newyears they
had a very nice party which
I attended had a splendid
time last evening I was
to a social on Hall 10 they had
lots of apples but oh dear my
teeth is so poor now I have half
a mind to have them extracted
one of the girls on the Hall had
two pulled yesterday I tell you
it hurt and frightened me they
[here?] are vacinating [vaccinating?]
all the attendants that has not
been inside seven years
I have not got scratched as
yet but I suppose Ill have to
be I am going to the lecture
friday night I wish you
could be there I was to a
grand Army supper with
Mrs Kelly and enjoyed it
very much it was an installation
service was out until
11-30 how is Mrs Jackson &
Mr Js [cold?] and did you
hear about the Masquerade
Ball the [they?] had the other night
to Birmingham I was half tempted
to go several of the girls from
here went & danced until
3 in the morning well my news
bag is about empty hoping you
will write soon from
Sister Bell
