My Dear Annie
Just a few lines in
answer to your ever welcome letter
which gave me great pleasure to
know that you were well I would
have written sooner but I am so
busily engaged that I have no time
to do anything that tug of war
is going to come off at last not
under the auspices of the F.D.
[Fire Department?] but as an
International affair me and
my partner is going to
pull in the American team we
are getting well paid for it besides
we have a chance for a prize
we have to practice every night go
in town 5 mile after supper is
pretty good exercise there is 6 teams
to compete the contest comes
off Thursday 10th inst they expect
to have a big house as the
grand Army encampment takes
place in fresno about that
Time they are going to have a great
Rabbit drive on Saturday
to entertain the old veterans a grand
time is anticipated I had a letter
from Mrs Moore same day I had [yours?]
& she said Mr Moore was working
at his trade I shall mail her
those pictures right away I
have not had any word from
home in a long while but
I dont write much home any
more I generally send to my
Sister Annie as she keeps
me posted well I have not
much to say in this letter
as I shall write again soon
after the tug of war & rabbit drive
the weather is getting pretty warm
here at present it looks more like
summer than march weather so
good Bye for the present
Your ever loving
Wiilie
