My Dear Annie
Yours to hand & contents
noted I was rather surprised at
your proposed visit home it aroused
a new feeling in my heart
I only wished that I was free
to go along with you but I have
to stick it out here another
summer in regard to your going
home if you have got an [App--ing?]
with parties you know as you have
been talking so much about going
to see your mother my advice
to you is to go & take a vacation
and I sincerely hope you will
enjoy yourself i have been thinking
strongly of taking in the worlds
fair next year & extending my trip
homewards. I have been like you
I have been working steady going
on 6 years now & I think it
will soon be time [torn]
vacation we ha[torn] [have?]
so long to live in this world
anyhow & we may as well try
& enjoy ourselves while we are [here?]
I only wish I was going too
Well I must tell you about that
tug of war the first night we pulled
there was a large house & the
next night the [goad?] [good?] army had
a camp fire & that took most of
the people out there there was 4 teams
pulled the 1st night- our team won the
1st night & then we had to pull with
the other winning team for first prize
we pulled 30 minutes & they declared
it a draw at the end but we are
going to pull it out at the pavillion
well we are busy ploughing the 2nd
time now the vines are coming
out in good shape I have got a
fine young horse now to run round
in the cart he can trot a mile
in less than three minutes well
must conclude for the present
hoping to hear from you soon
[torn]
your affectionate [torn]
Will
