| Transcript | Barrie, Ont [Ontario?] - October 1st 1889 Willm [William?] Hunter Esq Dear Sir - I have been thinking over & over again whether I answered your last letter or not _ if not I am sorry for this apparent neglect _ but this last while back has been a very busy time & very little spare time _ which must plead my excuse _ I have little news to give _ The Harvest is over & I bilieve [believe?] on an average is good over the Country _ I am as I expected short _ but hope to make it up next year _ as I told you I have gone more into fruit & every year more will or ought to bring me more [proceeds?] _ I do not think you will get many American apples this year. the crop is so short Plums were plentiful & sold high but my fruit are just beginning to bear _ I have still a good deal of work to be done _ putting out young stock _ pruning bushes, preparing for winter and so on _ My health is not good And I suffer sometimes a good deal & have to lie down frequently for relieve [relief?] _ I am thinking of going to Toronto to consult a first class Dr. altho [although?] I think it will be little use _ The weather is very wet & disagreeable and when it clears I am afraid will bring cold. I was glad to see your health was so much improved for me it will continue The trying time of the year at least to me is coming on so you must take care of yourself. I hope you and Mr. Weir will see that Mr. Venables makes no unnecessary delay in finishing up our business _ I had a few lines from Mr. W. [Weir?] some time ago & answered him. I have not heard from him since _ I hope he is enjoying his holiday There was a fearful accident in Quebec you would see it in the papers. A person that has seen the city would wonder how people could live in some of the streets, with [divine?] [order?] Rocks hanging right over them I only saw it once the day I sailed for Ireland. on my return I arrived at 7 p.m & left for Montreal & Toronto by the midnight Train. I hope your Niece is well also yourself & all friends My family are much as usual [Ellen?] a slight cold she was in Toronto on a visit during the Exhibition and enjoyed it much _ With best regards _ yours sincerely Andw.
