| Transcript | To: Thomas Greer Dungannon Ireland From: Joseph Wilson New York Dear Uncle New York December 19th 1774 I hope you will forgive me for not writing to you before this as I had nothing particular to Inform you of. I now take the oppertunity [opportunity?] of the Bearer James Neill to let you know I have begun the Copper business in Willmington a town about 28 miles from Philadelphia & 5 from Newcastle I have so farr [far?] met with pirty [pretty?] good Encouragement for particulars I Refer you to the Bearer as he was at Willmington since I set up business there I sold my Pewteres Tools in Philadelphia for [?] 156 Pennsylvania Currency 56 of which I have Recd [received?] and has got good security for the Remainder, the Pewter business is very much on the decline here as well as in Europe they Import all the Plates & dishes from England and had not the Non Importation taken place here I do not think I would [would?] ever have got near the value for my molds [moulds?]. I hope in the course of next Summer to be able to send home some good accts [accounts?] John Morton & the rest of them my friends in Philadelphia thought it the most advisable method for me to set up in Willmington it is recond [reckoned?] one of the plesantests [pleasantest?] situations in America and in the senter [centre?] of Well Inhabited Country, I would be very glad to hear from my friends in Ireland as I have no acct [account?] from any of them since I left them, I Remain with love to my Aunt and Cousins Dear uncle Your Most Sincere and P.S.
