| Transcript | Mr John Campbell New York 8 January 1787 Dear Sir I would have answered your kind letter of the 26 June long [before?] this but waiting for a [direct?] oppy [opportunity?] & moreover I have been thoroughly mislayd [misled?] making out a full State of the Company affairs which is now compleated [completed?] & a Copy me Mr [Tardles?] who proposes leaving this the beginning of next month and [a visit?] with him to whom [J McFerguson?] for particulars he can clear up matters fully, I have been [consuly?] [disassuabble?] of aples [apples?] to send you that once an extravagant price for them upon openg [opening?] the [them?] proved 2/3 rotten, in consequence of letters from my Sister & I may second Parent [your?] making in [se?] of very [exertion?] to see my friends in Ireland, for what was some people may think of me I have a warm friendship for those that deserve it often there, From the Acct [account?] I have the [town?] must be greatly improved, tho [although?] I have not a high opinion of Baron [Yelvestons?] plan it may improve the Harbour.
