| Transcript | Dear Matty New York 3 June 1789 Anexed [Annexed?] is Copy of my last & Inclosed [Enclosed?] is Meesrs Bourdieu & Cos and also Mr Norris [whose?] take care of it. I have now the pleasure of your favor of the 24 March & hope you soon after got the Articles on shore. The Gov.t [Government?] [Contractors?] promise their award in a day or two. I am now at no loss to know where misrepresentations went from hence by, and do assure you I am at present in lower Spirits than I have been some time purely an act of the detentions I meet with for fear of making you, or our Sisters, uneasy therefore earnestly request you may not, for, that I will get from hence as soon as possible I can with propriety, & to hear of your being so will only add to my unhappiness, I have not yet rec.d [received?] an answer from Maryland but expect it every post, I believe the cause you mention to be the Occasion of many of the Failures, only take care you dont let the Tennants [Tenants?] run too far behind in their Rents its often dificult [difficult?] to bring it up again I am very much pleased to hear of the Kings recovery, & am sorry for the misfortune you mention. I suppose it was John [Senor?] who was here many years agoe [ago?] that has got David Conynghams [Cunningham?] Estate. The [Ladies?] are in much want of the Articles you mention The Congress here are laying heavy Duties to pay the National Expences [Expenses?]. I shall soon write you again when perhaps may be in better Spirits & am with Love &c Pacquet [Packet?] Belfast HY [Hamilton Young?] |
