TranscriptDear Matty New York 18 Feby [February?] 90 [1790?]

I wrote you a few lines the 15 Inst by Capt Mc
M. [McMeakin?] and as I find Capt Chivers [Cheevers?]
who I sent the Hams by was to sail from Dublin in all Dec.
for this hope you have sent Mr Waltons Shirts by [him?]
& that you rec.d [received?] the Hams I have now to answer
yours of the 24 Nov.r its [luckily?] you reminded
Mr Morris of the [cabinet?] as the Ladies are
much pleased with it, I only wish you not to
let the Tennants run too much in arrearres [arrears?]
it is not serving them, they have Shipd [Shipped?] off so
much Wheat & flower [flour?] from this Country that
its feard [feared?] they will be wanted here before long,
being using fast. I have a little touch of your
Complaint in my Shoulder but its going away
I should think Jno [John?] Hamiltons Father was able
to give him a good Fortune, exclusion of what
he had with him. Sam [Hyde?] has always been prudent
but I wonder he did not buy his Fathers in Laws
Estate, for he Certainly is very [Wealthy?], such
a Place woud [would?] not [answer?] Mr [Mateer?]. It appears
to me there will be a warm Contest for [both?]
Down & Antrim. Lord Donegal ought to have a great
Interest in the later, I am realy [really?] Glad Lord
Mazerine is got home, he must have been
in a dreadfull [dreadful?] Situation for many years
The French King has brought much trouble
on himself & the Emperor seems to be geting
[getting?] into the [like?] very fast, I wish Great Britain
& Ireland to [keep?] out of their Quarrels, none
woud [would?] help them the last War, Tho [Though?] I have made
every inquery [inquiry?] about Alexr [Alexander?] Montgomery
can get no intelligence of him, [Mr?] Gaine who came
here that Agus [August?] cant remember any thing of him
& he is one of the oldest Emigrants from Belfast
I know the St James is Loading for there but
dont know when she will sail, I am preparing
my [Antha?] as much as possible & shall soon write
you again [Loving?] & [c-?]
&c [that?] Dr srs [dear?] [sisters?] HY [Hamilton Young?]
