| Transcript | Brooklyn, October, 8th, 1886 Mrs Throne We received your kind and welcome letter, and was glad to hear from you and all the family, your brother James was here and spent the after-noon [afternoon?] and Evening with us as he heard John had returned from Ireland and wanted to hear from all the family, Mr Sample was very sick and had to leave the City last May, his wife and children have not returned yet but they are comeing [coming?] in the course of a few days, he has only been here 2 weeks He is not looking at all well, his sons has the business all together now. I don`t understand how it is, the boys got it, and I but from what few words Mr Sample said I think last May when Mr Sample was so sick and thought he was going to die he signed the business over to the boys, and I think the boys have taken advantage of the their father since his recovery. He seems very much depressed in spirits, an [and?] I did not like to ask two [too?] many questions, he is coming, with his wife and children to spend the first Sunday, after they return home, then I will find out more of the Particulars as him and I have all ways [always?] been the best of friends. he was sorry to hear of Mr Throne`s accident. John told him about Mrs McIntyre getting her ankle sprained, John told James, that he spent a few afternoons and evenings with Mrs Buchanon and had a very nice time. Mr Sample was very glad to hear of the prosperity of three family`s [families?] wishing them all kinds of success through life #PAGE 2 Well now Mrs Throne I wish you could have heard John and James, They had little Ireland in the Parlor, between them they had all the names that you could mention in that part of Ireland and I laughed hearty to hear the two talking of home. Your brother James said he had not spent such a pleasant day in twenty years. for we done nothing but laugh. I think I could find the way to Tyrkernoghan [Tirkernaghan?] my self [myself?] now, hearing so much a bout [about?] it [?]/2 Tompkins Place Brooklyn. New York. Pleas [Please?] write soon Mrs Throne I would like to have you or any of the family come over and make me long visit, we have a very large house 4 story [storey?] an [and?] basement, so you know we have plenty of room, Mrs Throne John never used any of his cup of butter untill [until?] he got home, you do not how much the whole family enjoyed it, they never tasted such fine butter before. I have heard so much about you and your family's kindest to John, we would like very much, to [two?] Likeness'es of you Mr Throne and the Family John wishes to be remembered to Lizzie [Elizabeth?] and Annie, he speak of them very much, and James and Jonny John, myself and family send kind love to you and family, Your true friend Mrs J.
