Dear Brother David

I now embrace this favourable
opportunity of addressing you with a few
lines to let you know that I and my family are in
good health at present, thanks be to God, & hoping these
few lines will find you the same. I have never received a
letter from you nor from any of my Brothers or Sisters, only
Brother John, & I think it hard that none of you writes to
me. I have been so long away that you have all forgotten
me, but I hope God has not. I was thinking of coming home
with this Vessel, but could not make it convenient. I
think long to see you all for the last time, But I have
given it over until you write to me and let me know about
the affairs of the place. It is not for the sake of any thing
1hat I am coming home for I expect to get nothing I
keep a Dry good store & is doing very well, but the business
is not brisk as it was in the Wartime. And let me know
if Linen-Cloth would answer here as the prices are high,
here fine Linen is a Dollar a yard. If you think of sending
any on or Buck-web I will send a remittence of Flax-seed
or any other article that would answer you [your?] Market when I
come to see you. I have three Children, Jane, Thomas & Mat
ilda [Matilda?] Brown. Jane is 15 years of age. pray David write
to me the first opertunity [opportunity?] & let me know about my
Father will it would be a setsfaction [satisfaction?] to me I wrot [wrote?]
to Hughey two years ago But he sent no answer
Remember me to all the Childern [children?] & to Brother
William & Robert & Hughey and all there [their?] Childern [Children?]
