My Dr [Dear?] Robt [Robert?]

Inclosed [Enclosed?] I send you
a letter from your father which has been
too long with me own [owing?] to contreary [contrary?] winds
for ships going out to sea. I hope it will
find you in good health and peace
as it leves [leaves?] me and my family in the
same. I understand that Mr Riddle
has been in Ireland and gon [gone?] back again
and that he brought letters from you
that let them know of your wellfaif [welfare?]
I wish you a happy new year in health
welth [wealth?] and peace. We have peace and plenty
in this Kingdom, but not so in Ireland
the upper counties of that Island is
in a disturbed state and many Rigments [Regiments?]
of Solders [Soldiers?] is gon [gone?] over to put a stop to their
proseedings [proceedings?] - I hope you got my last letters
I begg [beg?] you to write as often as you can
your father and famly [family?] are all well
your grandfather is still alive and well
and lives at the castle now. your Aunt
Jane is well and famly [family?] and sends her
love to you. no more at present
