My Dear Miss Wier [Weir?]
I have been trying
to write to you for a long time
but some way I dident [didn't?] get to
it. I met my brother Paul
at Detroit. he wanted me to come
to Trenton, but I wanted to come
here. my sister and Mr Kiest
are just as kind as they can
be to me. I don't see why they
are. I try to do all I can
but that is so little.
Oh how I wish you were here.
I know you would enjoy
yourself Ida has lots of books
and quite a lot of new music
but I don't care much for eather
[either?], but I know you would.
we went to the Fair it was
quite nice. I enjoyed it. the
Asylum had quite a nice
display some things were quite
pretty. they had a lot of Rugs
like Dr Heurd wanted me to
make. I am going to make a
silk one some time I think they
are pretty don't you? just now
I am doing a lot of plain
sewing, and saving all the
piece for Mrs Strong how is
she? I hope she is well. I always
liked her.
give her my love. I havent seen
Miss Fitzmeyer yet she lives
about three miles from here
just as soon as I find time I
will go to see her. I wrote to her
the other day may be she will come
here to see me. I wish she would
are you going to Detroit?
I wish I could go we thought
about it at first but Mr K is
so busy in the store that he
thinks he can't spare the time.
I wish I had work. I can't look
for it yet. my sister has a lot
of sewing and I think it would
unkind if I woulden't [wouldn't?]
do it after she has been so good
to me. You have heard me speak of
my brother Walter. he was married
last Spring they got a very pretty
home. every thing is so new and
nice and they are so happy. it
does any body good to go there.
this morning they came for me
and we went out in the Country
and got a lot of Cat-tailes
[tails?] if you were here you
might have come. I got a letter
from Miss Blaney the other day.
she told me that Dr Morris was
away and Dr Christian made the hall
how do you like him? I think
he is splendid. I don't know him
very well but he seemes [seems?]
so pleasant. Miss Wier [Weir?] is
there any thing that I could do for
you? any thing that you coulden't
[couldn't?] get at Pontiac? You
see Toledo is quite a City. You
have always been so kind to me
and I know that I can never repay you
would do any favor you would ask. I
can't help thinking how kind you were
to me and how much trouble I always
gave you. I can never thank you enough
for all you have doen [done?] for me.
just think it is almost a year since I
came on your hall. I must close for I
have no more paper. Please write soon.
I do love to hear from you. Give my love
to all and remember me to the Drs [Doctors?]
Write soon. I am with much love your friend
