Mr Joseph M. Searight –

My Dr [Dear?] Sir
I received your favor
of the 29th October on the 18th ultimo
with cheque for œ10, which I placed
to your Cr.[Credit?] for which please receive
my thanks. I received all the claims
and [draughts?] correct. and your statement
of account also correct. I never
have any thing else with you for
you were always correct - -
[Lederich?] has not paid the œ40,
Bill yet I proposed to renew it
for him if he would reduce it
œ10, when I found that was not
forthcoming I said I would take
œ10, in yarn which he said he could
not get although he has part of his
House set to a spinner for an Office
at œ70, per annum so the Bill lies over
unpaid and if you wish I will
take Proceedings against him -
I gave Carson's Bill to Robert Moore
as he said Carson was going to leave the
country And if proceedings was not
taken against him it would be
lost he has him in gaol at present
R Moore has paid rather more than the
half of said Bill which [he?] placed to
your credit this day Money was very
scarce here and [P.M.?] had 70 pieces
[7/8?] linens and he wrote me that he
would let the 1/2 stand towards the
old account if I would give him
1/2 Cash and his price for the goods
which I did and thats the way he
paid as above mentioned to you [--?]
I sent for your [Boiler?] I heard
it was larger than my own . So I
wish you to let me know what I
have to place to your acc.[account?] for said
boiler -
Mrs Macoun says she is sure you will
come on well where ever you are -
You are so honest and steady with
the help of [Borisdance?] and [Bridy?]
I give you her best respects-
We are all in Good Health at
present hoping this letter will find
you the same
I remain
My Dr [Dear?] Sir.
Yours truly
John Macoun
& Jas [James?] Macoun
