Mr James A Smyth,
Prin [Principal?], Public Schools. in
Essex.

My dear Sir,

This is the earliest time at which I can reply to
Your letter of the 14th inst, I am sorry for the delay
as it might disarrange your plans, and defeat your
purpose; but it Could not be avoided: for a person
cannot be in two places at the same time.

I sent a report about the last of March addressed
if I remember correctly to Mr. Francis. It seems
that it must have been miscarried. After I visit
the school this fall I will give the Board another
report.

I understand Miss MacMillan is to remain
in the school, a decision which will
be for the interests of Essex Pupils.

Yours truly

D.A.Maxwell
