Newbury Port Oct. the 23 [rd?]

my Dear friend Mr. William Gifgut [Geffcott?] I arrived
safe to St Johns I met with Mr. Christopher jones [Jones?]
from Carigan he paid 40 shillings for me and my sister to go
to Boston we did not like Boston so we came to Newbury Port
a town abiout [about?] 45 miles from Boston on our own
expenses I should be thankful to you if you would be so
kind as to let me know if my Sister ann [Ann?] is in
Carigan [Carrigan?] if my Sister ann [Ann?] is in Caragan
[Carrigan?] I want her to let you know if my Brother
Michael and Sister Catherine is [sic] in Greenock in
Scotland if they remain there untill [until?] st [St.?]
Paterick [Patrick's?] day I will send you money enough to
bring them to New York my Sister and I are saveing
[saving?] a pound a week my Sister and I are in good
Health we have got an ecellant [excellent?] situation and
a fine Master and Mistress we like them very much I want
you to write and let me know how Mrs. Gefcut [Geffcott?]
and the babies do I want to hear from them and see
them very much I want to know how the nurse does and Elisa
Dendas I want you to let Mrs. Gefcut [Geffcott?] know that old
Mrs. waker [Walker?] died on st [St.?] paterick [Patrick's?]
Isiland [island?] one side of st [St.?] Johns and her son an
[and?] daughter laid sick with a fever at the same time I
want you to let John gordan [Gordon?] know that his son died
on the passage Denis Meeally and his Sister in law and Child
died when they came ashore and Patrick carway [Carbery?] and
James Meglothland [McLaughlin?] of balacanard [Ballacanard?].
will you send me an acount [account?] of Mr. Wm [William?]
Stephens wife and family how they do and Wm [William?] Meeam
wife and family and Andrew Long wife and family the most of
the people that came out in your vessels have died in st
johns [St. John's?] I thought you would like to hear how the
crops are in this country they are gineraly [generally?] very
good except the potaitoes [potatoes?] they are not very good
please send me an account how the crops are in your cowntry
[country?] Capt [Captain?] Perdon and his Lady wer [were?]
very good friends to me at sea will you be so kind as to let
briget rock [Bridget Rock?] know that I saw her Brother
Mickeal [Michael?] he was well his wife and all his family
died on the psage [passage?] except his eldest daughter he
was in company with me to Boston parson [Parson?] Irvin of
Boston got a situation for my Sister in st [St.?] Andrews
I was so lonesome without her that I sent for her she is now
living in the same place with me Mr Irvin [Irvine?] wished me
to write to you that he was in Colege [college?] with you my
best wishes an [and?] blessings to you and your Lady I an [am?]
well and I want you to send me a letter as soon as you receive
this Please direct your letter to Mary Mcbride [McBride]
Newbury Port Mass [Massachusetts?] to the care of Mr. Enoch
Tilton state [State?] St. I would pay the postage of letter
but it is not taken here I shall think the time long before
I get your letter No more at prest. [present?].
