| Transcript | Augusta Geo [Georgia?] 27 Augt 1867 My Dear Wm. John I enclose the Second of Exchange on Robert Lockhart & Dempster Liverpool for Four Hundred and four pounds seventeen shillings and five pence Sterling. having forwarded the first on the 23rd Inst. I have not yet heard of the amount of the shipment made to Brown Shipley & Co. I see prices are again on the decline in Liverpool. I hope for an improvement before mine is put on the market. it continues to rain daily and great apprehensions are entertained that it will be very injurious on the Cotton. the weather has no appearance of clearing off. so far our City continues very healthy. I have doubts whether it will continuous so during the next two months. the first Bale of Cotton was received here yesterday. this makes the fourth received at different parts in the State. it will be unusually late coming to market this season. I am yet undecided whether I shall visit the North this summer. I cannot well leave home. and the season is too far advanced. should I do so I shall write you from New York. I have just seen a gentleman from Clarkesville who report that our old friend Mr & Mrs Campbell in good health. Mrs Nichols is spending a few days at my house. and looks well and quite active for one of her years. her residence is about a mile from South Boundary Street on the Geo [Georgia?] Rail Road. hoping you will write at your earliest convenience I remain Yours Very Truly Harper C.
