Dear Bob
I drop you a few lines to say the Deed is now
all right in your name. I was in a state of great
uneasiness for a week as I was afraid of Joe's wife,
however I am glad that it is now out of her power,
but do not you sign your name to any paper for Joe,
or anyone else, that would involve you in debt, as
what property I have here is all in your name, &
it could be seized for any debts you might contract.
I warn you of Joe because I don't think he is doing
right, and as very often he hardly knows what he is
doing, he might sometime try to persuade you to put
your name to some paper that would involve you and I
in difficulty.
Write me a few lines what you are thinking of
starting for Home, if you are spared to reach it, what
an agreeable surprise it will be for Father and Mother,
do not be spending any money for Clothes, as you can
buy them cheaper at the other side if you want any.
It seems my Mother has been very sick for two or
three months but is now rather better, I believe
Johnny Stewart owes for Butter and Eggs all the country
round, and he drinks not by the Glass but by the Pint,
write soon and let me know your intentions.
Your Affectionate Brother
James
