Dear Brother,
I am Sorry to inform you of our Patricks Death. He died on Dec 15th
after a fortnights Illness, Decese of the Heart. He died Vary Suddenly.
We thought he would pull through to the last but he died in an instant.
It has been a great blow to us all. Maryann was So prostrate with grief
She took ill on Dec 26th with Inflammation of the Bowels and had a Narrow
escape. She is gust comming round now but Still Bedfast and will
be for Sometime but I think the worst is over. Mother is keeping vary
well considering. She has kept up the best. I had a hard gob to keep right
myself. It has been a Great blow to me to loose Patrick after all the
years that him an[d] I have been togather and avery thing prospering
round us. He was well attended by Priest and doctor and we done all
on our power for him. John and his wife are well. John was vary Sorry
and grived for the loss of Patrick to die in his prime. Thare is nothing
more I can tell you this time. It has been a down a downcast Chismass
for us but we are Vary Glad Maryann is pulling through. With kindest
regards to Maryann and all your familey.
