My dear Agnes
You took a lot of trouble about the pedigree; but I am glad
there are members of the family with our mother's and Joseph's
thoughtfulness and consideration. I am too much of a philosopher
to care for ancestral standing; but my ignorance of our stock was
almost complete, so I thought I would enquire where we came
from, and what links connected some of the names and memories
of my childhood and youth.
What a domestic life a Federal Public man has! In months I
have not had more than a week end at home. As I write, the
children are in Bed. Abbie and Mary are in Melbourne, staying
with Mary Dynon. I seldom see them when there, as I stay at a
Hotel. We may rise before Christmas; but I return to clear out
to the seaside for the children's holidays. Tuesday night is my
night of rest; as then I generally can get from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.
without the hustle of Hotel life and trains, though there is a good
deal of insistent, if not merry, whistling, from the near Railways.
However, there are compensations. It is late, so with Love
to our Mother and yourself

Your affectionate Brother
P McM Glynn
