| Transcript | Landridge, Lakeside February 17th 1908 My Dear cousin Sarah I feel ashamed to write after our neglect of not thanking you and sister for the very beautiful work you sent us. Mr. Heron has returned about three months ago and it was very nice to hear him talk about our dear ones in Ireland. Since coming back Mr. Heron has obtained some land and as he has been engaged for some time I suppose that he will soon be getting married. The lady is a Miss Tolerton of Killinchy and she is indeed a very nice girl and will make a splendid farmer's wife. I sent the presents for Jennie and Emily on to them perhaps you have had a letter before now from them. We are all very proud of the lovely work and thank you and Minnie very much for going to so much trouble to send it to us. The harvest is just about over here, we have finished and also threshed. We had a very good harvest, some wheat we had went 48 and a half bushels to the acre. It has been an exceeding dry season and the grass is very scarce indeed. I have been staying with my sister Mrs Thompson for 4 months, so I was with her all through their harvest, she has very good health but her husband has not been very strong for some time, he had influenza and he does not seem to get strong very quickly. I intend going up to Annat in about a week to my brother Jims place for a few weeks holiday. I will also be at Uncle Hamiltons place. When I come home Eva intends going to the North Island for a month. My brother Jim works the creamery in Annat and is getting on very well. They have two little sons now. My brother Robert has five children, three girls and two boys. We are commencing our honey harvest tomorrow, we had £20 pounds worth last year. We do not expect to have so much honey this time as the season has been so dry. We hope that Dear Uncle and Auntie and all our cousins are enjoying the best of health.
