To Anna Maria Stewart (Birdie), [Peterborough, Ontario]

10th Dec'r. 1871

My dear Birdie

I send you a nice letter I had from Frances for I am not going to call her
Bun anymore if I can remember it and as Aunt Annie has another Lizzie Stewart, I think it much nicer to call her Frances, don't you think so? Now
Nannie dear I want you to write to me. I have letters very often from all
my grandchildren in Illinois and also from Aunt Kates children tho1 they
are not so far from me. But even Harriet and Dunbar write to me and I
want you to write to me sometimes too for I am very fond of having letters
from my friends. So pray tell Fannie Hay to take this hint. Anna Collins
writes to me very often and I think Fannie should too. Tell her I wish often to hear what she is doing and thinking about as I know nothing about her and it seems as if she was a stranger & not a dear granddaughter.
Please take care of Franceses letter and hymn & return them when
you have an opportunity & with love to all & Jeff too.
I am your ever loving
Grandma,
F. Stewart
Love to Rolley.
