| Transcript | Lurgan 20th Dec 1849 My Dear Joseph I received your obliging letter of the 4th Sept and disposed of the enclosure as you wished. The present is to say that I thank you for the [intemation?] you give as to what you intend doing, if possible, in regard to my account - and as four months will have expired from the date of the letter above referd [referred?] to, before this can reach you, I hope you will (if not previously done) send me an order for such sum as you can spare. You may rest assured that 1846 & 1847 tried as in Soul, Body & Estate, and in business we are labouring under the effects of it still - And that not only in the [deminuation?] of [Meain?] for business, but with difficulty and expense of supplying the wanting Capital. I need particularise no more - I do not want to annoy you and doubt not you will feel a pleasure in doing what you can for one soon. I mentioned to you Moyrafarty [Moyrafferty?] knew what you requested and he received it in his usual easy way. He did not appear dissatisfied nor say anything unpleasant I do not exactly remember what he said. Last summer we had Cholera here and a good many Deaths. Perhaps as many as 10 to 15 in one day, but it left our town about the month of August. My Family and Self were graciously preserved by Grace of God and to him through the Redeemer be the [faded] praise. We had a visit of the Queen and Prince Albert to Belfast 11th Augt [August?] we saw them both for the first time. They appeared in the [placement?] Garden for the Royalty in our day and I believe [faded] all the better for it Your friends Montgomery are all well. They have written to Wm [William?] that if he wishes he may come home They would not wish him to be from home against his will Are you connected with Methodism? I doubt not that you are and hope you are blessed with union. When you [faded?] I would be glad to hear something [respect?] yourself. soul, Is it happy as God? Nothing you are aware can make amends for the wish of real happiness in the Knowledge and love of God, and his son Jesus Christ. To "know the saviour died for me", and that I have an interest why blood has been my comfort and support amidst the last quarter Century of my life - And "they" God as our God forever and ever. He will be our guide even into death". As this is market day I have not taken time to write out another copy. With best wishes for your happiness and prosperity in the best sense.
