Gentlemen:
We wrote you by this oppertunity Via Bristol to which please be
refered.
Last night the Johnson arrived safe. Your sundry favours by her shall
be particularly replyed to in our next. The bearer now waits for this Letter.
We expect we shall be able to give A very agreeable & speedy Sale of her
Cargoe, to accomplish which depend no care shall be A wanting. Be so
good as to charge all the Charges on the Manchester goods by the
Johnson to our account & let the cost of her Cargoe & Insureance on her &
it be kept to our particular accounts, as we will lake her to our joint Account when clear of this Cargoe. We imagine you main that we are to do your business seperat from Captain White. If otherwise, pray explain it.
We have taken all possible care of the Powder. All counterband trade is
now very hazardous, as there is A Strict look out kept.
We would think it prudent you advertise the Johnson on receipt of this,
& if any accident happen her on her passage home, Charter an other Vessel
by the 20th September, & how to load her you shall have our opinion in our
next. What Cargoe we shall ship in the Johnson home we cant now advise
you, but she will be clear to sail by the 1st July for your place full, either on Freight or on our Accounts.
WC begs the favour of you to push of his Indigoe for what it will bring.
as well as his Logwood, & to furnish his account Current. Pray credit in it
the exact 1/2 of Freight made by the Johnson to Newry & Liverpool.
You may depend we shall act with A&D with Caution, & that we dont
require either advice or assistance from such men as your Friends McEvers
or By ard. Your affair is made known lo the first Men in trade in the place
& to the Men we expect the Court will appoint [for] arbitration. We fear
nothing from A&D, & we would have you to rest satisfyed that you will
soon know the Event.
