| Transcript | To Aspinwall & Doughty, Present 3 June 1756 Gentlemen: I expected before this to have received the State of Messrs. Melling & Company account. These Gentlemen writes me very pressingly on that head. So I request you to enable me to comply with their Desire. I have received from Mr. Haliday & Messrs. McQuoid & Haliday proper proofs to enable me either to leave your disputes to A Court or arbitrators. I am of opinion, when the expences are made very large, matters must be left to arbitration by order of the Court, & as yet they cant be much. I am now ready to leave all matters in dispute to two men of Character & Credit in the place, you to choose one, me a nother, & if they cant agree, they to choose the third, & their Award to be binding. I shall expect your answer to this in writing. I must beg leave to assure you thai this proposal dis not come from me from the least cause I have to suspect the goodness of my Friends Actions. Far to the Contrary. I must assure you I think it A just one, & That I shall be able to make appear. WC |
