| Transcript | To Capt. Hugh Hathorn, of the Brigg Greg 11 July 1756 Sir: You are to proceed first wind for Barbadoes & deliver a Letter you receive with this for Messrs. Walker & Woodbridge who will immediatly let you know if you are to discharge there or to proceed farther, & such orders as you receive from them you are to follow. You must use all expedition in your power, & if the Vessel is to return here, she must be here early in November, & if you cant sell the Cargoe to come with her, you must send her by the Mate. If you have a Prospect to be here by the 1st December, you will be [in] time anough to take the command of her home. But if you cant be here by that time, take your passage for Europe. We expect you will be very frugal, for you well know the small Freight your Brigg is on wont bear much expences. Should you have the bad Fortune to Miss the Island of Barbadoes, then you are to open our Letter to Walker & Woodbridge & follow our directions to them. G&C P.S. Incase you go to St. Eustalia, Mr. Robert Stewart, Mr. Stivenson, & Mr. Nathaniel Laurence, Merchants there, are Men that may bse depended upon. If you leave any thing behind you there, let it be with Nathaniel Lawrence, & if you Value your self on any person there, we choose him but take care & fix your Terms.
