TranscriptTo Thomas Mercer, St. Christophers 15 August 1756

Dear Thomas:
I am this morning favoured with yours of the 10th Ultimo. I assure you
it gives me great pleasure to hear of your Prosperity.
Your letter for Philadelphia is forwarded.
1 am affraid youl make a poor Voyage with your Brigg As there is
an Embargo in Philadelphia. This is a much better Market for all West
India Produce, and as good for any thing you ship there. Indeed, I
believe if you shiped any Rum in your Vessel, I sold it, as I was concerned
in A Parcil, at 12/5 per Gallon with your Friend T Wallace & had a Parcel I
consigned me also by him which I am now selling at 3/6 per Gallon.
It will give me great pleasure to hear often from you, & when I can
serve you or your Friends here, be assured of my readiness.
Since the 1st of May, I have been in Partnership with Thomas Greg. Our
Firm is Greg & Cunningham. WC
