| Transcript | To Haliday & McQuoid, London 27 October 1756 Gentlemen: It gives us great Concern to Inform you that by a Positive affidavit Messrs. Aspenwall & Doughty made that Philip Ambrose, their Book Keeper when they had the Transactions with you, has been Absent since your Actions Commenced & is expected here before the next Court & that he is Their principal evidence. The Court admitted your Tryalls should be put of[f] on their paying the Costs of this Court. To morrow being the last day of this Court, our Lawyer gives Them this notice of Tryal at next Court in January, when we sincerely wish we may be able to end your affairs. They Take all Methods to put of[f] the try als, & if they will sware hard, they may put it off for another Court on paying Costs.1 You may rest assured they will Expose themselves in the End, that we shall doe all in our power for your Interest, & that we see the hardships you lye under & their advantages.
