Dear Gentlemen:

I am favoured with yours of the 1st & 2nd Instant & observe their
Contents.
In Drawing the Charter Party for the Union, the owners has the
advantage of you too much. I am bound to fill her here, & by all accounts
She will Carry 750 Hogsheads, & the have Lumbered her so that
[she] cant take in with you within 100 Hogsheads of her Burthen so that
there they have the advantage of us £25 at Least. Had she been Stowed
properly, I would have been very Content to have paid the whole
expence, but as it is, I pay Largely for it & reaps no advantage. The are
bound to no time of Sailing from your place. We are bound, if we detain
them an hour, to pay for it dear. I beg the next Vessell you Charter for
me to Let me have One half of the Bargain. I want no more but would
not Choose to have Less.
We Shall Examine the Invoice of the Flaxseed & if Right Credit
Conformably. We will be very content you Charge what Commission
you think Reasonable for the purchase of the Flax seed.
We think you Ship too Little Provisions in the Sally. From the
accounts we have, they must answer. We would be Content you would
Leave out 50 Hogsheads of our Flaxseed & ship Wheat for it. It must
answer. Let what flaxseed we have with you lye on hand, & you Shall have orders what to do with it Soon. 223 To Thomas Greg, Belfast
If you think Mr. Hodge's Brigg fit to proceed to Rotterdam,
Amsterdam, or Hamburg, I will give them £400 Sterling for the Run
of her. I am to pay no Primage or averige to one of them ports & give
her Dispatch here. In that case, you Are to Ship what flaxseed you
have of mine by her & take freight for what more She Can carry, & if
you Cant get freight, then you must fill her up with flaxseed for me
& Send her here as Soon as possible. You'l please observe that the
freight Round here must be free.
If you think the Master a good man, I would be Content to give the
Owner £300 Currency to bring out Some tea to be Discharged at your
Capes. I Shall give the Needfull direction on that head. You may be
Concerned what part you Choose in the Voyage out or home. If you
dont think the Owners & Master would agree to the Last proposal,
don't mention it.
I Cant Conveniently draw on Snell more then £200 now Which I have
sent by Doctor Cherington, A Friend of Mr. Cunninghams who Sets
out to day. By him you have Mr. Chews Answer to your Letter. I wish
you had got falls Rum shiped in Creathorn.
Let me Know if you want more Bills & as Soon as the Waddell is
full Shall Send them. I believe this will be about 15 Instant.
