| Transcript | Westminster Township November 26 1856 Dear Brother I once more send you a few lines hoping the will find you and all the family in good health as the leave me and my family in at present thanks be to the God of all our mercies. Your Brothers and all their families is well and so is your cousins and families and there is a yearly increase among them. My son William got married last year a Miss Willsie, her father gave her eight Hundred Dollars, he has removed last month to the Township of Bosanquet 54 miles from this place Land being cheaper than here. Land is selling in this place from 40 to 50 Dollars pr Acre as it is improved, and some above that price. Mr. Carrol and his amiable wife came to see us in this place. We have got a new Methodist Church Built this past Summer. It is 40 feet long by 30 feet wide,it was opened for service last month. It is on David Carrothers Lot one quarter of a mile from my house. I was the mover of it. Last year was a year I started a subscription and it took good through all the name and the two Mr. Willses that is members of the society that meet in it. I hope it will be of use. Methodism is popular in this country but there is more hearers of the Word than Doers. In answer to this letter let me know how William McMullan and sister is and Miss Armstrong and my sisters families and my old friends. I received a letter from Paul, he gave me to know he would be leaving Australia this month he said he would come by England and that he would go to see his native country so you will have the pleasure of seeing him first, he said he would be here in March. The Rail Road is in full operation from London to New York and from London to Montreal a distance of 600 miles, this is the Grand Trunk Line opened last month for travel. You will give him to know this, when he arrives in London to go to Mrs Strongs Hotell [Hotel?] there he will see his old friend Mr Henry Strong, every Hotell [Hotel?] Keep an Omnibus that attends the arrivale [arrival?] of every train. Mr James Oliver, Nathaniel's Brother in Law, Mr. John Doyle married to another, and Mr Robert Keneday [Kennedy?] that is married to their mother all will be glad to see you and will send me word of your arrival. Let him know also there is a Mr James Armstrong from this part gone to Ireland (Nath.[Nathaniel?] and his wife is well acquaint with him, I have seen him) he is the Lawful Heir to Mr Harry Armstrong's property (Latin). He will be returning in March. He might be with him to London. This season has been remarkable fine, very little rain has fallen up to this since the fall. Wheat dose [does?] not look so strong as other seasons. Please to let Mr Hugh Lunny of Cloon know I am living and I hope he is too. Remember me to all my old acquaintances as you see them Brother Thomas seen James Stuart in London last month he said the were all well at Godderich, he did not come to see us and I have not any more to say of them. All farm produce is on good demand and good price. Please to give my best respects to Mr. James Copeland and his family. If you can, let me know which part of America Mr James Copeland is living in. If spared I will write to you before March next as I want to get some things with Paul if he arrives safe to you. No more at present but remains Your affectionate Brother Joseph Carrothers.
