| Transcript | South Shenango Sept 16th 1847 Dear Cousin, I take the liberty to try to obtain an acquaintance with you. I have long desired to get a corespondence with my friends in Ireland: but have been deprived the privilege by not knowing their address [.] I have at last seen a letter from you to Kosciusco McArthur, by which I obtained your address for the first time. I am the son of Andrew McArthur & the only child which he has living. My mother and three brothers died when I was seven years old which was about thirty years ago. My father lives with me & although a very old man enjoys good health [.] I have a wife & one child a daughter which is only nine months old [.] We have been maried about nine years so you can see we have not been very prolifick [.] I suppose you have received all the information which I could give you about your friends in this country by K: Mc Arthur & Rob Scott who have both writin to you this sumer: You friends in this country are all in good health at present [.] I suppose you are aware we all live in one neighbourhood except uncle Wm & family which live about 20 miles distant in Meadville the County Town. You enquire of Cousin Kosciusco what a farm can be bought for: which gives us to hope that you might hav some thoughts of emigrating to this country: which if it would |
