Dear Cousins
At brother James request I write you a few lines in haste to say to you that he answered Cousin William's about
the 23rd of 4th month for Aunt Greeves, in which letter he wished to know how he should forward $200, presented
by himself and Aunt Greeves; to which letter he has not received an answer, and he is not willing to risk the money
without your special direction, which I hope you will send as soon as possible. He is in the city at present for a
few days, and it is uncertain when he will be in again — his health is but very poor - he remains in the country at
his brother-in-law's where his wife died on Christmas Day. Brother Henry is still in Missouri. His youngest daughter died in the 8th month. The four other children
were brought on in the 11th month. They are at Frankford at their G.father's.
I was very sorry to hear of the various afflictions which thy family have passed through within a few years; and
also of the trouble of thy own immediate family. I suppose that thee has heard of the discease of thy Uncle Jacob500,
which took place in the second month I think. John Nicholson has returned to this country. Thomas Nicholson
and wife are well - I heard of them a few weeks ago. John Coats and wife, Jacob G. Morris and daughter are
expected in a few weeks from England. They have been taking the same tour that they took a few years ago but
now they return in affliction as Lydia Morris died of consumption in France in 9th month last.
I must conclude this scrall as my eyes are so painful with inflamation that I can scarcely see what I am writing.
Love to your children.

Affectionately your cousin
M. Greeves
