| Transcript | New York 11 mo 22nd 1841 My dear Maria I was pleased to receive thy kind letter of 27th Ult. And to find thee again reached thy Fathers house in safety. Where no doubt thou wert greeted by all its inmates with much affection. I did not intend to have delayed replying so long. But my many engagements must be my excuse. I percieve by thy letter that you are willing that Joseph should come to New York & make a trial if business should best suit his inclination. I have consulted with the family and we have concluded also to make the trial under the hope that it may result in his benefit and ultimately that it may be useful to his younger Brothers & Sister It he is now ready to come thou may send him at once, as 1 suppose later in the season will be attached with mote inconvience. Thou can direct him where he will find us. Thou will be surprised to find that Rebecca has gone to spend the winter m Mobile. The family of our friend John B. Toulmin were with us some time and on their return have persuaded her to accompany them. I had a letter to day from her dated at Pittsburgh - they were all well & getting on finely & in good spirits. Give my love to thy Father & Mother & believe me Thy afft Cousin A.Bell I have not any reply from thy Uncle S. Sinton. |
