| Transcript | Congleton Villas Oct 15th '77[?] Dear Cousin Margaretta I received your welcome letter some time since & am very much obliged for the carte of Aunt Anne which you enclosed. I wish I had as good a one of dear father, but he would not have his likeness taken, so that we have only a black paper one, taken some years before he was married. I hope Aunt Anne enjoys better health than when you wrote, I was very pleased to hear of her, but sorry she was so poorly. I would have written soon after receiving your letter, only my Cousin Henrietta Sinton who lives with me was very ill, she has now, thank the Lord, quite recovered & is almost herself again. I do not think that there are any changes in the family since I wrote last. My brothers & sisters & their families are all well, also our cousins, as far as I know. Cousin Margaret Greer & her family are at present at Seapark, they have now a house in London where they purpose spending the winter. We have had a very wet season, so that the harvest has been greatly kept back; the potatoes are very wet, so that it will be a hard winter for the poor. I hope dear Aunt is resting on Christ & Christ alone as her Saviour, & is happy resting in His love. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth & the life, no man cometh to the Father but by Me." "And this is life eternal that they might know Thee the only True God, & Jesus Christ whom Thou hast sent". "For the ways of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life, through Jesus Christ Our Lord." "Let him that is athirst come & whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely". "Come unto Me, all ye that labour & are heavy laden. & I will give you rest." Jesus of thee we ne'er would tire; The new and living food, can satisfy our hearts desire and life is in thy blood.
