| Transcript | R.I.C Castlerea Co Roscommon 26th Novr 1880 My Dear Uncle I duly received your most ever welcome & kind letter and need I say how glad I was to learn that you & all Friends in America are quite well, As regards myself I am getting on first class thank God. & so are all Friends at home- I got removed to Castlerea since I wrote to you before. I like it much better than Ballinlough as Castlerea is a pretty little town, but we have a great deal to do, as this Agitation is going ahead to a great extent. The poor natives of this misfortunate country are being led astray more & more every day, and its thought that ere long we will have a civil war, there is not a day passes without an outrage of some sort being committed either a Murder, Cattle Houghed, Houses burned &c. &c. in fact it would take me too long a time to enter in detail into these matters but I dare say you see a little of what I speak about on the papers, -- Dear Uncle as regards the notion I entertained of going out to America, I have not fully come to a conclusion as yet. I would like to go very much but I know Father is very much opposed to my going. However if things do not settle down a little in this country, I will. God willing whatever betide go out next spring. I will be delighted to get cousin James Photo – & dear Uncle I would like to get yours also, -- I was a little ill for a short time in summer but am as Strong as ever again thank God, I was sorry to learn that you had so much trouble during the summer, but glad that you are all right again I suppose you heard about the Death of poor Uncle Tom. He leaves a very large young Family but our Friends are doing their best for them, So you see my dear Uncle that we should not look so much to this world after all, As our life in this World is only as a passing Shadow. Oh may we all be prepared to meet our Judge whenever it may please Him to Call us. Farewell Dear Uncle for this time and do not forget letting me have a line soon. I enclose a few lines for Aunt.
