Gentlemen
I enclose $500 for which Please send me if you can a copy of an Advertisement that
appeared in Old Country papers somewhere about 34 or 35 years ago, I have been told it again
appeared several years ago but no one belonging to the Seymour family has seen it, although a
great number of people has told us that they were sure of reading the Advertisement but
strange to say there was not one could remember the name of the paper or the Date of
publication. The Advertisement we want is for Edward Seymour or his Heirs for money left him
by a Joshua Beasley, Edward Seymour was my Mother’s & Father’s Grandfather as Mother &
Father were cousin’s Edward Seymour my Great Grand Father resided at Willibrook County
Cork Ireland, a Farmer & Comber of Wool by trade, & agent for the Duke of Devonshire he died
in the City of Cork while transacting business there for the Duke on 2nd April 1829 was buried at
Willibrook in Brinny Churchyard April 5th 1829 he was 75 years old.
I have also found an old statement in some family papers saying that Edward Seymour
was promised by Joshua Beasley in his life time, a large sum at the death of Joshua Beasley and
was told after the death of Joshua Beasley that ₤42,000.00 Stg had been left him, Arthur
Connell of Cork City was one of the Executors of Joshua Beasley’s Will, but the Will has never
been found, so we think that the Advertisement that so many has seen must refer to this.
Hoping that you will be able to find for us the Advertisement that we have looked for so long.
Please attend to this at your earliest convenience
And Oblidge

Hannah Seymour Clark
