Dear brother
Is it not strange I came to your house almost on purpose to tell you about the Trustee meeting & to ask you to be sure & be there & then I believe I never mentioned it to you. However I hope you will be here on Monday April 4th if you are alive.
Did you see Mr McNiels reply to my letter in Telegraph? No? That is strange! Well neither did I. But I am told it is not because they could not do it for they could put me in the Penetentiary. Only! – Well they don’t want to give me trouble dear souls how kind they are It would be so hard to go the Penetentiary! And so Mr Picket to calm them down last Sunday read 1. Cor 6 chap. (Tho’ not the lesson for the day) & dwelt particularly on the words “Why do ye not rather suffer wrong” &c And to show my wickedness in appealing to a wicked world in the paper instead of submitting to be judged before the Saints – Now only think H how wicked I must be to refuse to be Judged by Saint Day, Saint Nutter, Saint McNiel, Saint Whelpley & Saint Picket
Well I did think they would have made some kind of a reply to that false & wicked letter – I see no need to have a commission of our ministers & that letter unanswered, as it will not be easy to make anyone believe their nonsense & they unable to deny the statements made there. Mr Shrewsbury went to see Picket & strongly advised him to
