| Transcript | La Crosse Wis Dec 26/92 Dear Brother I now write you a few lines to let you know that I received your letter and was glad to hear you were well. As we are all here at present. you said you hoped Pat was well is that all you know about him and you So close By. Edward I have a Curious feeling about Pat. I Don’t know what makes it Seem as if i Should hear bad news any Day I hope him and his family are all Well. I am glad the weather is fine. I hope the Smelts are running thick. Edward what kind of Claim is that of Linches i received a Notice yesterday from Edward Williston it is as Long as myself and Sets Forward Some of the most Curious Claims i ever Saw do you know anything about them. I think it is fraud or Blackmail, and Don’t let it be allowed. I don’t believe John owed any body when he had always plenty of money in his Pockets I wish you had Done as i wanted you to and the Linches might whistle as for the Police man i told you that was what he was going to Do. Linch also States that John Signed his name with a X Well Ed you know better you know John Could write. Please look up his Books and papers and Prove this to be a falsehood I think John Flannigan Could prove this for he was the last John went to School to this Linch affair must be a forgery I am going to write to Winslow you Said nothing in your letter about how you were getting along.
