I suppose you have heard from
Mary of Joe Young being dead
he died on Friday May 30th he
was buried on Monday June 2nd
quite a large funeral of young
men. He was never here since
that night. We parted with a
few that night which we will
never meet again on this side
of the grave Little we thought

of it: Always when Joe was
leaving he shook hands with us
all he would say it might be
the last time he would be able
to go with them. It came at last
His mother is laid up now some

His time of leave was up yest [yesterday?].

to [too?] long to be absent I suppos
[suppose?] he will walk about as his hand
is tied up to his side

I hear Mr White & Willoughby are

in Gortin If so this band
intends to go over. No arrangements
made yet for the 12th July. This
band has started to practise

in Plumbridge electing men for
these councils Patrick Pat Owen
& another man stood against
the two Dunns [Dunnes?] But the Dunns
[Dunnes?] was [sic] returned with a
good majority The Catholics are a little
to [too?] fly [sly?] They say Patrick Pat
