| Transcript | [Letter 2] [Page 5] Dear Brother As John has wrote a few lines I thought I might not send such a small letter after so long a delay I have not much time today but I'll try & give you some idea of how the spring work is at present I think I told you before that we work with Willie Ballantine we have three horses two young ones and the same one as we had when you were here the young ones is [sic] three year olds one black [Page 6] and the other red, they are both good and quiet. Since I last wrote to you we had severe weather so that work was kept back however we are very well through at present. Sunday evg [evening?] May 1st 1904 Today was our comunion [communion?] so we have got home and has [sic] got our dinner & tea over and all are gone out Willie John came over this morning & kept house while we were away only Mother & him are in now. [Page 4] I started this letter on Wednesday but as mother was away I had not much time so it was left unfinished. The early sowed corn is about 3 inches up. potatoes are pretty near all in we have about two days to put in over in Stewarts place it was hard to get the carting done the ground was so wet this morning rained terrible when we were going down we got wet all through & hard to sit a few hours [Page 5] Well I see by Mary's last letter that she has decided to come home at last Mother warned me to tell her long ago well I didn't like because I thought she did not want to come. I suppose you will visit New York. that is what you were for doing long ago Maggie McFarland said in one letter for you to be sure & go to her I have not her address but could get it if you like I suppose you will wait for more money to spend before you come home. it will cost you something to send Mary home if she has not got any herself. [Page 6] Its a long time since we had any word from you I think you get careless by times [sic] Lizzie Hay told me to tell you she wrote to you long ago & you never answered yet so dont forget. I think its one letter Bella had from you since she got married I dont know which is in the fault [sic] but it looks strange after what writing she done [sic] while here Baby Madge has got her feet to the ground but has not the power of the tongue [Page 7] only in a few words Their [There?] is a vacancy in Omagh Asylum for a carpenter and John wants to get applying salary something over £30 with board & all I was up seeing Bella M Duncan two weeks ago today you would feel sorry to see her so low she was a merry girl 13 years ago 15 of this month when you went away first but time brings changes to all I gave Lizzie your address & Uncles she was for sending Memoriam cards of Sarah's I must close now.
