| Transcript | [Letter 2] [Page 1] Castledamph April 21st 98 Dear Brother As John has written most of the news I have only to finish and not say much: Daniels runaway has created some fun around here as no one ever thought of seeing him with a wife I wish you could see him since Sunday walking around and her under his arm: She was not took home at all her and two brothers came to Dan s on Sat night fun commenced on Sunday and lasted till Tuesday night the crowd was not large: but any that went was ready for a good drink: They went for the [Page 2] license yesterday: Johnnie & Sarah and her and Dan she went to Whyte and he went to Mr Steen but some says they wont get license [licence?] as they dont attend either places she is a daughter of Lundy's as the [they?] call him, There will be some noise if they get married at Eden. I had a letter from B Dunbar today her and Mary was [sic] up in Mrs Dunn's at Easter but did not stop only for their tea as they were hurried with the potatoes at home so she apologises for not visiting any others this time Miss Dunn is in bad spirits now as she has to leave the school William Drove her up to the Rectory on Tuesday to see if he would forgive what was said and done but he refuses to do [Page 3] anything only what he said he wants one that can teach music: he told her she should have £600 now and that would do her and he would not allow Charles McCullagh to have any benefit after what he has said and done Every one [everyone?] is sorry for Miss Dunn but the others deserve it, he voted his own way in spite of all Protestants and said a lot about the Rector as well but Miss Dunn could not stop him. she has been here once or twice to see if father could do anything but its no use speaking she must leave this time at the end of June Its a great pity of her to be thrown out and her money all away. You see School Teachers is (sic) not always happy, more than any other ones. Johnny McKinley Eden Fore is buried today before he died he told them to work no more for this year was the end of the world if that would be so Miss Dunn might not mind losing her pay. John would only get £30 at the end of the four years but he let it pass he may work another while with good [forcing?]. We are sending you a paper of James Houston's today.
