| Transcript | [Letter 3] [Page 1] Castledamph January 4th 1894 Dear Brother In answer to your letter which we received on Jan. 2nd we are all glad to know that you are all well We heard on Sunday last that Aunt was unwell and that she could not go to Annies at Christmas but I hope she is alright again I suppose you were thinking on the ball all night Its [Page 2] likely I did not give you have [sic] enough news about it Mother says that it would [sic] been better we had not told you about it till it would [sic] been over I will give you a list of all that was at it there were nineteen McKelveys six from Glengaw, four of James ones Castledamph 3 of Andy’s ones, 2 from Glenroan, 3 from Glencoppagh and one from Gortin [Lisnacreight?] 3 of the Barkers, 4 of the Hustons [Houstons?] and William Eden, 5 of the Gordon’s, 5 of the Gilkisons [Gilkinsons?], 3 of the McClellands’ and Lizzie and Mr. Hamilton Jamie [James?] Dunn roadside and Johnnie Dunn [Page 3] 3 of the McKernans plumbridge, Robert Glass and John Glass and two Bradkeel, 3 of James Campbell ones, 3 McKnickles [McNicholls?] and four Walkers, Jamey [James?] Hay and Kate two boys from Cappy, a Mr Laughlin and McNickle from Gorticastle, Tommy McFarland, Willie [William?] Ballantine [Ballantyne?] and Bob’s ones, Johnnie Cochrane and son Uncle Charles and Aunt and the four Beatties, I think that was them all the four stewards [Stewarts?] brought up the forms about one o clock and William and John McKnight left them back on Wednesday. Daniel was the musician but he got help from Uncle Charles and James Barker the Beatties was only at their tea when Willie [William?] Barker and James came. James had his own fiddle with him. [Page 4] So there was no less than three fiddles you talk about making a box for yours, James Barker has a grand case for his, the fiddle and case cost him £3 in Scotland he is a very good player too the young stewards [Stewarts?] done very well for the first time but Willie [William?] Barker gave them a hand at the money. I think there never was a ball was so quiet no trouble in any way from night till morning there was not a duncan at it from no place It will soon be time for me to close we are all for Uncle James tonight. William is up today he missed the fun last night but I think he won’t tonight.
