Castledamph
July 17th 1896

Dear Brother
In answer to
your last letter which we
received the morning after
the twelfth we are glad
to hear that you are getting
on so well, you will have
a long time vacation now
Im [I’m?] sure you will feel lonely
but you should take a trip
some road and pass the time
I think father has gave [given?]
you enough news about the
twelfth without me giving
any They had a good day

all through, and they are
all well pleased and does [sic]
not rue their journey. We see
in the papers that the Strabane
men did not get home safe, the [there?]
were about the half of them come [sic]
in the train along with these
ones [sic] and the others had to wait
till next train: so all the
roughs about Strabane was
gathered ready for them and
only for the police there would
[sic] been lives lost there are some
badly injured, We have,
pretty good weather here this
last few days, we have put
in the upland hay today
there is not much to be seen
out now we have not got

many turf [sic] home yet but
I suppose they will draw
some from this on. they have
got the gravel all out and a good
share of the stones broken,
They were all in the fair
yesterday but John, the [they?] had
cattle down but the [they?] did not
sell, William Eliza and me
[is?] [sic] going to Omagh to-morrow
Lizzie Ann and Bella Maggie
is home so they told them
on the twelfth for us to go up
tomorrow they have only three
weeks to stay I think they are
doing very well since they
went away better than at
home anyway

The Miss Dunbars is getting
along well Beck was at
Bundoran for two weeks
and Mary was alone only
one of the Miss Campbells slept
with her she had no school
on the twelfth nor neither had
Miss Dunne Willie John is
doing well so long as you
stay away but he thinks you
have nothing to do with this house
he says you were not born here
he goes home two or three times
a week but not [sic] stay after night [sic]
he always comes back in the
evening, we are sending you
a paper to-day that we got from
James Houston, Your Sister
